Ozone, a naturally occurring molecule, is produced in the upper atmosphere through ultraviolet radiation of atmospheric oxygen. In industry, ozone is produced from ozone generators to be used as a disinfectant and/or chemical agent in applications such as:

Food and drinking water treatment
Waste water treatment
Mold and bacteria inhibition in cold storage
Bleaching of textiles, resins and oils in manufacturing facilities and pulp and paper processing
